Samenvatting:
Guerero was a ruined man. There was no money to pay his debts. He did not even have te monet to pay the rent on this miserable apartment. Soon he and Inez would be homeless. He could see no future for them.
His plan was to blow up Trans America flight two. He himself would die, but he did not care about that. His life was no longer of any value to himself or his family, but his death would be of great value. He had decided to take out life insurancy for seventy fife thousand dollars, and save his family from ruin by his death.
He had been thinking about his death for several months now. He believes his plan was perfect. The plane must disappear completely. Four hours after take-off it would be high above the Atlantic Ocean. If it exploded there, the pieces would be lost in the sea. Nobody would ever be able to find out the truth about how the crash had happend...
Het Vonnis:
Een 'leuk' Engelstalig boekje net een mooi verhaal, wat makkelijk weg leest.
Soms is het erg verwarrend welke naam bij welk personage hoort.
Het verhaal is redelijk spannend, tot en met het einde!

Het moment dat ik het boek het liefst door de kamer wilde slingeren:
As he pulled the string he wondered whether the bomb would be another failure. In the last second of his life he learned that it was not.
Dit wil ik later echt nog met iemand bespreken:
He wondered if they would ever guess what he had done for them, and thank him for that. But he couldnt'remember their faces any more. It was easier for him to imagine the money.
Je besluit zelfmoord te plegen, sluit een laatste levensverzekering af, blaast een heel vliegtuig op, honderden doden. Jij hoopt dan dat jouw familie dan blij is met het geld?
Ik denk dat niemand gebaad is bij het geld uit een levensverzekering bij een zelfmoord. Ja, als je het financieel heel zwaar hebt is het geld een ademruimte, als het al uitgekeerd wordt. Dit is bij een zelfmoord namelijk vaak niet het geval. Maar nu wijk ik af van mijn verhaal...
Ik denk dus dat er niemand gebaad is bij dat geld. Ik denk namelijk eerder dat je familie dan een schuldgevoel heeft voor alle slachtoffers die ook zijn omgekomen en hun familie. Gewoon omdat jij een eind aan je leven wilde maken. Ik denk dat de gemiddelde familie liever heeft dat je hen om hulp vraagt om juist te blijven leven. Of als je dat niet durft, in ieder geval veilig thuis komt en hen op z'n minst in vertrouwen neemt!
